The Five Crowns!
Revelation 22:11-12 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold,
I come quickly; AND MY REWARD IS WITH ME, to give every man according AS HIS WORK SHALL BE.
NOTE: Every born again Christian must stand before the Judgment seat of Christ and have his works burned in the fire to see what sort they really are. If they were done for Christ they will be refined in the fire as pure gold. If they were done for self they will be burned in the fire as wood, hay, or stubble.
Revelation 3:11 Behold I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
QUESTION: There are five crowns that a Christian can receive for his service for Christ. If a person wants to be sure he DOES NOT receive a crown what must he do?
A CROWN OF GLORY!
The Elder’s Crown
I Peter 5:1-4 THE elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a PARTAKER OF THE GLORY THAT SHALL BE REVEALED: FEED THE FLOCK of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for FILTHY LUCRE, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a CROWN OF GLORY that fadeth not away.
John 21:15-17 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. he saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was greived because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
I Corinthians 9:16-23 For though I preach the gospel, I HAVE NOTHING TO GLORY OF: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
A CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!
For Those Who Love His Appearing
II Timothy 4:6-8 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me A CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, which the Lord, THE RIGHTEOUS JUDGE, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto ALL THEM ALSO THAT LOVE HIS APPEARING.
AN INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN!
The Victor’s Crown
I Corinthians 9:23-27 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown: but we AN INCORRUPTIBLE. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: test that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
The CROWN OF LIFE!
The Martyr’s Crown
Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH, and I will give thee A CROWN OF LIFE.
James 1:12-16 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive THE CROWN OF LIFE, which the Lord hath PROMISED to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.
The CROWN OF REJOICING!
The Soul Winner’s Crown
I Thessalonians 2:19-20 For what is our hope, or joy, or CROWN OF REJOICING? Are not even YE in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? FOR YE ARE OUR GLORY AND JOY.
Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Luke 15:10 Like wise, I say unto you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
Philippians 4:1 THEREFORE, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, MY JOY AND CROWN, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
Psalms 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, SHALL DOUBTLESS come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is A TREE OF LIFE, and he that WINNETH SOULS IS WISE. (What is the size of your tree, or do you even have one?)
Daniel 12:2-3 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that BE WISE shall SHINE AS THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE FIRMANMENT; and they that turn many to righteousness AS THE STARS FOR EVER AND EVER.
1) Don’t teach or feed the sheep, or if you do, do it for the money. Be a big shot over God’s heritage.
2) Don’t have a love for the appearing of Christ. Hope He doesn’t return soon. Cheat your students out of their hope of the soon coming of Christ.
3) Don’t get victory over sin or don’t be temperate in all things.
4) Don’t be willing to die for Christ and of course don’t endure temptation.
5) Don’t open your mouth for Christ and be a witness. Don’t care if people are going to hell. So what if Christ died for them and told you to tell them of His love for them.
