I Peter 3:12-18 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled: But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:

Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ, For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the JUST for the UNJUST, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:…

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the JUST for the UNJUST, …

QUESTION: In the above verse, who is the JUST and who is the UNJUST?

II Corinthians 5:20-21 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, WHO KNEW NO SIN;

that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Christ without sin

Hebrews 4:12-16 For the WORD OF GOD is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, YET WITHOUT SIN.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Man without hope

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is NONE righteous NO NOT ONE.

Romans 3:23 For ALL HAVE SINNED and COME SHORT of the GLORY of God.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is NOT a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth NOT.

QUESTION: What is the NEW BIRTH or «Second Birth?»

John 3:1-8 Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God:

for no man can do these miracles that thou doest,

except God be with him.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, Verily, I say unto thee,

Nicodemus saith unto him,

How can a man be born when he is old?

can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born

of water

of the Spirit,

he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is

James 4:10-15 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

For ye ought to say, IF THE LORD WILL, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

QUESTION: Does God promise that there will always be a tomorrow?

James 1:10-11 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

Hebrews 3:15 …To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. (The day they provoked God.)

James 5:1-6
Go to now,
ye rich men,
weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
Your riches are corrupted,
and your garments are motheaten.
Your gold and silver is cankered;
and the rust of them shall be a witness against you,
and shall eat your flesh as it were fire.

Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

Hebrews 9:27-28 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, BUT AFTER THIS THE JUDGMENT: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

INTRODUCTION: An Apostolic Pentecostal told me one time that because of I Peter 3:20 all the babies in Noah’s flood went to Hell:

I Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

His reasoning was, because it said that just eight souls were saved, all those babies went to Hell. Of course the phrase is referring to the eight in the ark being saved by floating on top of the water, NOT soul salvation. and Also a Hyper-Calvinist believes that only the elected, including just the elected babies go to Heaven, the non-elected babies burn forever in Hell. All the «nuts» ain’t in the «nut house».

QUESTION: What does the Bible say about this?

Genesis 18:25 …Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Dueteronomy 1:34-39 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying, Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers, Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hat trodden upon, and to his children, because he hat wholly followed the LORD. Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither. But Joshua the son of Nun, which stinted before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

I Corinthians 15:1-4

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you

which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved,

if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,
unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,
how that

Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Galatians 1:6-16 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto

another gospel:

Which is not another;

but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you,

As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received,

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Words That Define «BIBLE Salvation!»

JUSTIFICATION — The declaration that A Man is Justified when he is not! Justified — Just as if I’d never sinned!

Webster’s 1828 Dictionary: JUSTIFICA’TION, n.

1. The act of justifying; a showing to be just or conformable to law, rectitude or propriety; vindication; defense. The court listened to the evidence and arguments in justification of the prisoner’s conduct. Our disobedience to God’s commands admits no justification.

2. Absolution.

I hope, for my brother’s justification, he wrote this but as an essay of my virtue.

3. In law, the showing of a sufficient reason in court why a defendant did what he is called to answer. Pleas in justification must set forth some special matter.

4. In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ.

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Romans 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Luke 18:9-14 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

REDEMPTION — The Payment Made to buy a sinner back from the WRATH of God.

Webster’s 1828 Dictionary: REDEMP’TION, n. [L. redemptio. See Redeem.]

1. Repurchase of captured goods or prisoners; the act of procuring the deliverance of persons or things from the possession and power of captors by the payment of an equivalent; ransom; release; as the redemption of prisoners taken in war; the redemption of a ship and cargo.

2. Deliverance from bondage, distress, or from liability to any evil or forfeiture, either by money, labor or other means.

3. Repurchase, as of lands alienated. Lev. 25. Jer. 32.

4. The liberation of an estate from a mortgage; or the purchase of the right to re-enter upon it by paying the principal sum for which it was mortgaged with interest and cost; also, the right of redeeming and re-entering.

5. Repurchase of notes, bills or other evidence of debt by paying their value in specie to their holders.

6. In theology, the purchase of God’s favor by the death and sufferings of Christ; the ransom or deliverance of sinners from the bondage of sin and the penalties of God’s violated law by the atonement of Christ.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «God’s word states in Revelation 3:20 that Christ was standing at your heart’s door and was knocking. Isn’t that true?» (Heart in this case would be one’s soul)

MAN: «Yes, it is.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «Did you hear His voice and open your heart’s door?» (Heart in this case would be one’s soul)

MAN: «Yes, I did.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «Did you invite Him in?»

MAN: «Yes, I did.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «Christ said that if you invite Him in, He will come in to you. Isn’t that true?»

MAN: «Yes, it is.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «Where is He now?»

MAN: «He is in my heart.» (Heart in this case would be one’s soul)

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «If He is in your heart, where will you go if you were to die right now?»

MAN: «I will go to heaven.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «That’s exactly right. If you die 30 years from now, where will you go.»

MAN: «I will go to heaven.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «That’s right because He has forgiven ALL your sins and has given you the gift of eternal life. That’s quite a gift isn’t it?»

MAN: «Yes, it is.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «You should be very greatful.»

MAN: «Yes, I am.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «I want you to do me one favor. I want you to bow your head one more time and this time thank Jesus Christ for forgiving all your sins and giving you the gift of eternal life. Will you do that for me?»

MAN: «Yes, I will.»

CHRISTIAN WORKER: «Will you repeat this prayer, in your own words: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I want to thank you for forgiving me all my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life and a home in heaven.»

QUESTION: Does works or doing good works have or play any part in the salvation of a soul?

Romans 4:1-8 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Romans 5:12-21 Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

The sufficiency of the work of Christ is taught in Romans 5:12-21. In commenting on these verses, Dr. Ironside quotes an epitaph on a tombstone of four children in Scotland:
