QUESTION: Should the Christian, who really wants to do a work for Christ, expect opposition?
Matthew 10:21-22 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents,
and ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake:
but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you:
and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would, love his own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!
for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you,
and when they shall seperate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
I Corinthians 4:9-17 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.
We are fools for Christ’s sake,
but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable,
but we are despised.
Even unto this present hour
we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted,
and have no certain dwellingplace;
And labour, working with our own hands:
being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world,
and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
