Pastor Tommy Heffner Sr.

I was born the first time on June 10, 1943 and raised in a Southern Baptist Church. I was born again at the age of 10 years old. During a revival I was brought under conviction by the Holy Spirit and the preacher preaching on Hell and I knew that if I died I would certainly go to Hell. Being very shy, I kept putting off going down to be saved at the invitation. After several weeks of deep conviction, I stepped out at the invitation and that burden of sin was lifted. I was saved before I ever got to the front of the church.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. I was saved because I completely trusted what the Lord Jesus Christ did for me on the cross.

Because I wasn’t exhorted to read and study the bible, before long as a teenager I quit going to church and was backslid until I was about 30 years old. During that time, the Lord whipped me through motorcycle falls 5 times and other things that happened to me and my family,

Hebrews 12:6-7 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

I saw that I had to get back in church or the Lord was going to kill me, so I made myself go to church for three weeks straight. It was a struggle every Sunday Morning, but on the third Sunday, during the invitation, I went forward all torn up and rededicated my life to the Lord. After that I started listening to Oliver B. Green and some other independent Baptist preachers on the radio and they got me interested in reading and studying the bible.

However, soon I was fooled into believing that you had to know Greek or Hebrew in order to understand the bible. I bought Oliver Green’s books, then got a Sword of the Lord and bought John R. Rice’s books and thought I was going to learn something, I didn’t. It was about that time that I changed jobs and ran into a man that believed the King James Bible was the perfect word of God. We argued for three months. Every time I would meet up with him, we would go at it until one day he gave:

Psalms 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Testimonies Of Jon & Larissa Zwingel

Psalms 132:14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

My call:

I was called to preach in the spring of 2001 and then later called to the Russian mission field in fall of 2001, while I was on a mission trip to Belarus. God broke my heart for the broken people of Russia and Belarus! I will never forget my burden that God put upon my heart on 9/11/01. It is the Russian people, dying and going to the very same hell that the terrorist which flew those planes into the towers.

Christian work:

TV Ministry (King James Bible Hour and Creation Science)

Retirement Home Ministry; Prison Ministry; Preaching in other Baptist churches; Visitation/Personal soul winning and street preaching

Larissa has served as a missionary to the Russian orphans for 7 years, as well as holding ladies Bible studies with her former home church in St. Petersburg. She also served as a translator in mission campaigns

Education: Bachelor of Theology (2004); Slidell Baptist Seminary. Slidell, LA.

Anniversary Date: March 6, 2004

Birth days: Jon — November 30 Larissa — February 12

Jon’s salvation:

I grew up in a Lutheran home, where my father was a pastor for many years. He passed away in 1981 when I was 10 years old. At that time we were living in Warmen Saskatchewan, Canada. My mother then moved herself and I to Kenmare, North Dakota. Back to the state where I had been born, and where my brother was raising his family. I was your average kid all the years I grew up in Kenmare. Going to school, having friends and playing sports was my life as I worked on a farm during the summer months. When I was 18 years old, I was walking through my mom living room and a thought entered into my mind. What was going to happen to me when I die? I didn’t know at that time, but the Lord began to work on my heart. I grew up with a couple friends that were saved, but they never really witnessed to me. But I know they were praying for me. After high school I went to college for 4 years and graduated to be a Electrical Lineman. I moved to Ponca City Oklahoma to start my new career and was there for one year until my mother became sick. It was then, I moved back to Kenmare to be with her and take care of her during her illness. During that stay I really began wanting to know more about the Lord and would watch certain preachers on TV. It was all I had, and the Lord used that time to bring the gospel to me. After about a month of hearing preaching, I was really struggling with salvation. I didn’t want to give up my party life and friends, but sin was wearing me down and God was drawing me closer to Him. So at the age of 23 in my mothers living room. Where at the age of 18 I was scared of dying, I was born again by faith, receiving Jesus as my personal Saviour. I have been thankful ever since.

Larissa’s salvation:

Larissa grew up in a Communist home in the former Soviet State of Belarus. Belarus is now an independent country, but still suffers from persecution today. Larissa’s father was an officer in the Soviet Red Army until retiring in 1985. Her mother was born again in 1986 after she was almost killed in a car accident. And in 1986, Larissa graduated from high school at the age of 16. It was pressure from her mother to be saved, thus making Larissa wanting to leave home for college. During her time in college the Lord was dealing with her heart, and knew her mother had been praying for her. Larissa was working during school at a Chemical Lab, and it was there, Larissa realized that there was a God of creation and that nothing is made by accident. After graduation, she moved back home to Brest, Belarus in 1991. She found a small group of believers that held Bible studies for college aged people. It was in 1993 when Larissa found herself needing the Saviour and could see the love of Christ in these people. So at the age of 21, Larissa received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour.

My name is Mitchell and I am a missionary in the Yucatan Peninsula. Chetumal, Quintana Roo to be more precise. I live in the southern most tip of Mexico where the borders of Belize and Guatemala are within a stones throw. I have been serving our Saviour here with my wife Elizabeth and our 2 children, Richard, 16 years old and Genoveve our daughter who recently turned 10. I pastor the Calvary Baptist Church of Chetumal which we began in our living room in September of 2002. We officially organized our church in February of 2003.

What began as a weekly Bible study has grown by God’s grace to a ministry where 150 people regularly gather to worship the Lord. Calvary Baptist offers 14 ministries to serve in or to be ministered by. Weekly street evangelism, door to door soul winning and a strong Missions emphasis make our church a fervent, friendly, family oriented church where everyone is welcome.

I was called to preach while a member of the Open Door Baptist Church in Lynnwood, WA pastored by Ken Blue. For some 9 years my wife and I served the Lord and grew in the grace of God ministering to others. I graduated from the Bible Institute in 1998 after 4 years of studies. My pastor had invited me on 3 occasions to accompany him on mission trips to India and Korea. The Lord used those opportunities to really convince me of the great need for workers. In 1998 on a trip to Mexico with our youth department, my wife and I both heard the Macedonian call. Less than one year later we were on the field. We lived in a very small village for 2 years learning the language and the culture of the Mayan descendants who are located in the area where we serve.

I am privileged to be a small part of the ministry that God has called Earl Wafford to. Here on Bible Answers I have met many other believers of like faith, been challenged by genuine Bible study and warmed by the evident love for God’s word by his children on this site. I encourage you to read the wealth of information on the read only section of this web site. I invite you to participate with a question or a personal Bible study that the Lord has blessed you with on our Open Forum. We would love to hear from you and get to know you.

Please pray for us in Mexico and for this ministry on the web to grow while it reaches lost souls for Christ and edifies the brethren by sound doctrine.

Thank you and may God richly bless you, Read the rest of this entry »

Dear Brethren

I am a KJB 1611 Bible Believing Independent Baptist Pastor.

My Testimony: I was born on November 17, 1970 into a Bible Believing Family. My dad was an Independent Baptist Pastor. We attended church regularly, but on one Sunday Night in June of 1980, the Holy Ghost convicted me of my sins, and for the first time I saw myself walking over the rotten covering of Hell.

God helped me to realize that My only hope was the Lord Jesus Christ. I went to the altar and was gloriously saved by Grace, and God gave me the Faith to accept him. I have been saved ever since, and will be saved a million years from now.

The Lord began to deal with me in 1989 concerning the call to preach. I ran for two years, but on May 30, 1991 I announced my call into the ministry.

I preached my first message at Faith Baptist Church in Belmont, NC and then I was led to start the «Bread of Life» Radio broadcast. God blessed me to minister on the radio for over 7 years.

God allowed me to minister and help out pastors who would take vacations, and I ministered in rest Homes. I met my dear wife Rebecca Jean Smith Duncan at the Independent Baptist Tabernacle in Dallas, NC. We married on October 15, 1995. She is my first and only wife.

The Lord led me to Calvary Baptist Church in February of 1996, and I was ordained by Pastor Jay Reeder in February of 1998. Due to failing health, Bro. Reeder resigned Calvary Baptist Church in February of 2000, and the church called me as their pastor on March 13, 2000.

We have been through a lot of valleys, and over a lot of mountaintops, but God has been good to us through it all.

If you need an evangelist for Revival, I would be SO glad to come and minister in your church, tent meeting, camp meeting or Bible Conference. My wife is a gifted singer, and God has blessed me with the ability to play piano, guitar, and Bass Guitar as well as sing. I count it an honor and a joy to serve the Lord.

Testimony of Earl C. Wafford Jr.

I was born May 17, 1939, at home, in the small town of Dillsboro, Indiana. Dillsboro is located in Dearborn county in the southeastern corner of the state, not far from Cincinnati, Ohio. My dad, Earl C. Wafford Sr., was in the Navy for twenty years, therefore, as a family, we lived in a number of places. When I was just a baby my dad was sent to Central America to the country of Panama where he served aboard the USS Mallard (ASR 4). My dad was a «Master Deep Sea Diver» aboard the Mallard which was a submarine rescue ship. Deep sea divers were affectionately called, «Hard Hat Divers.»

My mother (Leota), my two sisters (Shirley & Mary) and I were all sent to Panama on a Navy vessel which, while in route, made a stop in Haiti. The countries of the Dominican Republic and Haiti are both on the Island of Hispaniola which is located just south east of Cuba. While in Haiti, my mother took her three children off the vessel and onto the dock where the ship was secured. My mother has reminded me many times that I have been in the country of Haiti …more on that later.

From Panama, my dad was transferred to Washington DC, I was three years old at that time. Before my family went to DC to be with my dad, we went back to Dillsboro for a few months. While we were in Dillsboro, my seven year old sister, Shirley, was run over by a truck and killed.

During the time my dad was stationed in DC, we all lived in the state of Maryland and it was during that time that my mother gave birth to her second son, Thomas Wafford. My dad was a «Deep Sea Diving Instructor» during his tour of duty in DC.

From Washington DC, my dad was transferred to the US Naval Submarine Base in Key West, Florida, where he reported aboard the USS Chanticleer (ASR-7). The Chanticleer was a surface support ship for submarine rescue operations. My dad established a new depth record for deep sea diving, for the United States, while he was on the USS Chanticleer. My dad’s picture is in the 1950, January issue of the National Geographic Magazine, page 56. He is the one on the left side of the picture.

My very first encounter with anything spiritual was when I was about eight years old while we were living in Key West, Florida. My mother took us to a Baptist Church and the pastor of that Church dealt with me and told my mother that I had a good understanding of the Scripture where it related to salvation. The pastor said he had led me to Christ and I had asked Him to come into my heart …I have absolutely no recollection of that event.

My dad retired from the Navy in 1950, after twenty years of service, and we moved back to Dillsboro, Indiana, I was eleven years old.

The next time I had any recollection of anything spiritual was when I was twelve years old. My mother took us to a Methodist Church in Dillsboro and on one particular Sunday morning, the service was conducted by a visiting evangelist. The speaker gave a very clear message on the plan of salvation. I remember him quoting:

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; —- and —-

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: —- and —-

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

I especially remember him quoting:

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

QUESTION: What is the penalty for ADDING TO or TAKING FROM scripture (the Word of God)?

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall NOT ADD unto the word which I command you, NEITHER shall ye DIMINISH ought FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt NOT ADD thereto, nor DIMINISH from it.

Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. ADD THOU NOT unto his word, lest he reprove thee, and thou be FOUND A LIAR.

Jeremiah 26:2 Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:

Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man THAT HEARETH the words of the prophecy OF THIS BOOK,

If any man SHALL ADD unto these things,

God shall ADD UNTO HIM THE PLAGUES that are written IN THIS BOOK:

And if any man SHALL TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy,

God shall take away HIS PART out of the BOOK OF LIFE,

and out of the holy city,

and from the things which are written IN THIS BOOK.

ANSWER: You will be reproved and found to be A LIAR. If you take from or add to the BOOK OF REVELATION you SHALL have your PART taken out of the BOOK OF LIFE, and out of the HOLY CITY, and from the things which are written in the BOOK OF REVELATION.

Psalms 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that MAN DOTH NOT LIVE BY BREAD ONLY, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

Psalms 12:6-7 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt KEEP THEM, O Lord, THOU SHALT PRESERVE THEM from this generation for ever.

Acts 24-14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, ONE JOT OR ONE TITTLE SHALL IN NO WISE PASS FROM THE LAW, TILL ALL BE FULFILLED.

II Peter 1:21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is QUICK AND POWERFUL, AND SHARPER THAN ANY TOWEDGED SWORD, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

II Timothy 4:2-5 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Titus 2:15 These things SPEAK, and EXHORT, and REBUKE WITH ALL AUTHORITY, Let no man despise thee.

I Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: IT SHALL NOT RETURN UNTO ME VOID, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know THE TRUTH and THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: THY WORD IS TRUTH.

II Corinthians 1:18-20 But as God IS TRUE, our word toward you WAS NOT yea and nay. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was NOT yea and nay, but IN HIM was YEA. For all the promises of God IN HIM are YEA, and in Him AMEN, unto the GLORY OF GOD by us.

Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Isaiah 8:20 Â To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Romans 3:4 … yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; …

Feelings come and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving;
My warrant is the Word of God—
Naught else is worth believing.

Though all my heart should feel condemned
For want of some sweet token,
There is One greater than my heart
Whose Word cannot be broken.

I’ll trust in God’s unchanging Word
Till soul and body sever,
For, though all things shall pass away,

Men have been «handling the word of God deceitfully» (II Corinthians 4:2) ever since the devil first taught Eve how. From Cain to Balaam, from Jehudi to the scribes and Pharisees, from the Dark Age theologians to present-day scholars, the living words of the Almighty God have been prime targets for man’s corrupting hand. The attacks on the Word of God are threefold: addition, subtraction, and substitution. From Adam’s day to the computer age, the strategies have remained the same. There is nothing new under the sun.

II Corinthians 4:1-2 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

One attack which is receiving quite a bit of attention these days is a direct attack on the Word of God as preserved in the English language: the King James Version of 1611. The attack referred to is the myth which claims that since the King James Version of 1611 has already been revised four times, there should be and can be no valid objection to other revisions. This myth was used by the English Revisers of 1881 and has been revived in recent years by fundamentalist scholars hoping to sell their latest translation. This book is given as an answer to this attack. The purpose of the material is not to convince those who would deny this preservation but to strengthen the faith of those who already believe in a preserved English Bible.

One major question often arises in any attack such as this. How far should we go in answering the critics? If we were to attempt to answer every shallow objection to the infallibility of the English Bible, we would never be able to accomplish anything else. Sanity must prevail somewhere. As always, the answer is in God’s Word.

Proverbs 26:4-5 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

Obviously, there are times when a foolish query should be ignored and times when it should be met with an answer. If to answer the attack will make you look as foolish as the attacker, then the best answer is to ignore the question. For instance, if you are told that the Bible cannot be infallible because so-and-so believes that it is, and he is divorced, then you may safely assume that silence is the best answer. On the other hand, there are often questions and problems that, if true, would be serious. To ignore these issues would be to leave the Bible attacker wise in his own conceit. I believe that the question of revisions to the King James Version of 1611 is a question of the second class. If the King James Version has undergone four major revisions of its text, then to oppose further revisions on the basis of an established English text would truly be faulty. For this reason, this attack should and must be answered. Can the argument be answered? Certainly! That is the purpose of this book. Read the rest of this entry »
