NOTE: The Church in Thyatira, the word Thyatira means: «odor of affliction.»

Revelation 2:18-29 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornicaion, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication: and she repented not. And I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father, And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches.

Revelation 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

Not only did this church leave its first love, it also left its first works. It departed from Christ in what Christ had told it to do.

Revelation 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornicaion, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Jezebel, in the book of Kings, was a prophetess, a religious leader, and followed the Babylonian worship of Baal. In their services they worshiped «The Queen Of Heaven.»The Babylonian worship can be found in the book, «The two Babylons.»

NOTE: The church at Pergamos. The word pergamos means much marriage.

Revelation 2:12-17 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So has thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

The way of Balaam: II Peter 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the WAY of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

Balaam is the typical hireling prophet, seeking only to make a market of his gift. This is «the way of Balaam» and characterizes false teachers. (Scofield notes)

The error of Balaam: Jude 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of cain, and ran greedily after the ERROR of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

The «error of Balaam» was that he could see only the natural morality —a holy God, he reasoned, must curse such a people as Israel. Like all false teachers he was ignorant of the higher morality of vicarious atonement, by which God could be just and yet the justifier of believing sinners. (Scofield notes)

Doctrine of Balaam: Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Numbers 22, 23, 24 and 25

God would not allow Balaam to curse the children of Israel. He threatened to kill Balaam if he tried. Balaam found a way to put the children of Israel in a position where God would kill them Himself. He taught Balak, the King of Moab, what to do. He had the Jews inter-marry with the Moabites, and then God killed the Jews Himself. This is «the doctrine of Balaam,» found in Numbers 25:1-8

Numbers 25:1-8 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods; and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. And the Lord said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel. And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal-peor. And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

NOTE: The Church in Smyrna. The word «Smyrna» means myrrh. Myrrh is indicative of bitterness and death. This church is a persecuted church.

Revelation 2:8-11 And unto the angel of the CHURCH IN SMYRNA write: These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive: I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

The Nicolaitaines, the conquerors of the common people, are now claiming something even more blasphemous.

Revelation 1:9 I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

These Nicolaitaines contend that since the Christian is a spiritual Jew (Romans 2) that also makes him a physical Jew as well. Accordingly they claim all the promises given to the real physical Jew. They also claim that God is finished with the descendants of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob.

This organization is the MOST BLASPHEMOUS CHRISTIAN CULT on the face of the earth and has its headquarters in ROME.

God is not finished with the Jew.

I Thessalonians 2
Romans 9 & 11

NOTE: The church at Ephesus. The word Ephesus means fully purposed.

Working hard to do the right thing. Their only fault is that they are begining to get a little slack with their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This church is commended for its intolerance.

It is a working church. It is not only a working church, it is a laboring church. It is a church that is working hard to carry out its tasks.

This church must remember to get back to its first love. It must remember to be seperated and give its love and life for Christ.

This church must repent of its indifference, indecision and indulgences.

This church must do the above or God will remove its power and influence if it does not repent.

Revelation 2:1-7 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst NOT BEAR THEM WHICH ARE EVIL: and thou hast TRIED them which SAY THEY ARE APOSTLES and ARE NOT, and hast found them LIARS: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou HATEST THE DEEDS of the Nicolaitans which I ALSO HATE. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Every verse in the bible has three applications.

1) Historical — The thing happened in history as it said it happened, where it happened and like it said it happened.
2) Inspirational or Spiritual — Since all scripture is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness, every verse of scripture has a spiritual application which can be used to correct or instruct people.
3) Doctrinal — Every verse in the Bible is aimed at a specific person, for a specific reason and to teach a specific truth.

Revelation 1:1-20 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before the throne; and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood[/u], and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the Isle that is call Patmos, for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

The Five Crowns!

Revelation 22:11-12 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold,

I come quickly; AND MY REWARD IS WITH ME, to give every man according AS HIS WORK SHALL BE.

NOTE: Every born again Christian must stand before the Judgment seat of Christ and have his works burned in the fire to see what sort they really are. If they were done for Christ they will be refined in the fire as pure gold. If they were done for self they will be burned in the fire as wood, hay, or stubble.

Revelation 3:11 Behold I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

QUESTION: There are five crowns that a Christian can receive for his service for Christ. If a person wants to be sure he DOES NOT receive a crown what must he do?

A CROWN OF GLORY!

The Elder’s Crown

I Peter 5:1-4 THE elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a PARTAKER OF THE GLORY THAT SHALL BE REVEALED: FEED THE FLOCK of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for FILTHY LUCRE, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a CROWN OF GLORY that fadeth not away.

John 21:15-17 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. he saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was greived because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

I Corinthians 9:16-23 For though I preach the gospel, I HAVE NOTHING TO GLORY OF: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

QUESTION: Why must Christians be careful to whom they wish God’s blessings or God speed?

I John 2:18-23 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; where by we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye KNOW IT, and that no lie is of the truth.

WHO IS A LIAR but he that DENIETH that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the SAME HATH NOT THE FATHER: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

I John 4:1-10 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but TRY THE SPIRITS whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:

Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the FLESH is of God: And every spirit that confesseth NOT that Jesus Christ is come in the FLESH is NOT of God:

and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, THAT WE MIGHT LIVE THROUGH HIM. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent HIS SON to be a PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS.

II John 1:7-11 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess NOT that Jesus Christ is come in the FLESH. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Look to yourselves,

that we LOSE NOT

those THINGS which we HAVE WROUGHT,

but that we RECEIVE a FULL REWARD.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine,

receive him NOT INTO YOUR HOUSE,

NEITHER BID HIM GOD SPEED:

For he that biddeth him God speed

IS PARTAKER OF HIS EVIL DEEDS.

QUESTION: What born again Christian or groups of Christians will be excused from the Judgement Seat of Christ?

Luke 12:2-3 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

NOTE: What we have said and what we have done for Christ will one day be manifested to the world. We need not be a pretender, for

IN THAT DAY there will be NO PRETENDERS!

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

NOTE: We are not saved by our works but are created in Christ Jesus unto good works.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

NOTE: We should walk in our good works; those works that Honor and Glorify Jesus Christ.

II Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soeth bountifully shall reap also bountifully…

Matthew 6:10-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Revelation 22:11-13 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly;

I Corinthians 4:1-5 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ,

and STEWARDS of The MYSTERIES of God.

Moreover it is REQUIRED in stewards, THAT MAN BE FOUND FAITHFUL.

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self, For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

DEFINITION: Steward — One who is given a TRUST or CHARGE.

STEWARD, n. [G., a room. The steward was then originally a chamberlain or a butler.]

Webster’s 1828 Dictionary:

1. A man employed in great families to manage the domestic concerns, superintend the other servants, collect the rents or income, keep the accounts, &c. See Genesis 15:2 and 43:19.

2. An officer of state; as lord high steward; steward of the household, &c.

3. In colleges, an officer who provides food for the students and superintends the concerns of the kitchen.

4. In a ship of war, an officer who is appointed by the purser to distribute provisions to the officers and crew. In other ships, a man who superintends the provisions and liquors, and supplies the table.

5. In Scripture and theology, a minister of Christ, whose duty is to dispense the provisions of the gospel, to preach its doctrines and administer its ordinances.

I Corinthians 4:2b …it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

STEWARD, v.t. To manage as a steward.

NOTE: If a man is a Minister; he is to be a STEWARD of the MYSTERIES of God. Moreover it is REQUIRED in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Found faithful to being STEWARDS of The MYSTERIES OF GOD.

NOTE: STEWARDS of the MYSTERIES OF GOD.

QUESTION: What will happen to the person who is NOT a steward to the mysteries of God?

SEVEN of the MYSTERIES are:

The MYSTERY of GODLINESS

1. I Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the MYSTERY OF GODLINESS: God was MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Jesus Christ is not just Lord, but THE LORD GOD OMNIPOTENT.

QUESTION: The apostle Paul was concerned about his service to Christ Jesus. When it was time for his departure; did he have confidence that he would not be ashamed at the Judgment Seat of Christ?

II Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, WE PERSUADE MEN; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

NOTE: The apostle Paul knew the terror of the Lord and was very concerned about his service to Him. He was not only concerned for himself he also PERSUADED MEN. He warned that ALL (all saved) would stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and their works would be tried, whether they be good or bad.

I Corinthians 9:19:27 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beatheth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

NOTE: Paul was very concern that even though he had preached to others; he himself might be a castaway. He served in fear, knowing he too would be judged.

II Timothy 4:1-5 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
