QUESTION: When a person, who uses God’s name in vain, is finally brought to trial; (and he will be) what will be the verdict?
Leviticus 24:10-16 And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out amoung the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp; And the Israelitish woman’s son
BLASPHEMED the NAME of the LORD, and CURSED.
And they brought him unto Moses; (and his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:) And they put him in ward, that the mind of the Lord might be shewed them. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Bring forth him that hath CURSED without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation STONE HIM. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever CURSETH his God shall bear his sin.
And he that BLASPHEMETH the NAME OF THE LORD, shall be put to death,
and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, and he that is born in the land, when he BLASTEMETH THE NAME OF THE LORD, shall be put to death.
Roman 3:10-18 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of CURSING and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not know:
THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.
James 5:12 But above all things, my brethren, SWEAR NOT, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
Matthew 5:33-37 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord WILL NOT HOLD HIM GUILTLESS that taketh his name in vain.
