I Corinthians 1:22 For the Jews REQUIRE A SIGN, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
Nehemiah 9:13-14 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
Ezekiel 20:10-12 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.
Moreover also I gave them MY SABBATHS,
to be a SIGN between ME and THEM,
that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
Ezekiel 20:19-20 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;
And hallow MY SABBATHS;
and they shall be A SIGN between ME and YOU, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
Psalms 132:13-14 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
Psalms 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Psalms 68:16 Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
Psalms 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
Hebrews 4:6-11 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Let us labour therefore to enter into
lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
QUESTION: To what is «THAT REST» in Hebrews 4:11 making reference?
God works by SEVENS
There are only Seven notes on a piano.
There are only Seven colors.
The book of Revelations has:
God works by SEVEN DAYS
One day — Two days — Three days — Four days — Five days — Six days — REST!

And on the SEVENTH DAY God ENDED HIS WORK which he had made;
and HE RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.
And God blessed the SEVENTH DAY, and sanctified it: because that in it he had RESTED from all his work which God created and made.
Exodus 16:30 So the people RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY.
Exodus 23:12-13 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the SEVENTH DAY thou shalt REST:
that thine ox and thine ass may REST, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, MAY BE REFRESHED. And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
Exodus 34:21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the SEVENTH DAY thou shalt REST: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
Leviticus 23:1-3 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Six days shall work be done:
but the SEVENTH DAY is the SABBATH OF REST,
an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
God works by SEVEN WEEKS
One week — Two weeks — Three weeks — Four weeks — Five weeks — Six weeks — REST!
Exodus 23:16 And the FEAST OF HARVEST, the firstfruits of thy labors, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labors out of the field.
Exodus 34:22 And thou shalt observe the FEAST OF WEEKS, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end.
Leviticus 23:15-19 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering;
SEVEN SABBATHS shall be complete:
Even unto the morrow AFTER the SEVENTH SABBATH shall ye number FIFTY DAYS;
and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD. And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savor unto the LORD. Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace-offerings.
Deuteronomy 16:9-11 Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn. And thou shalt keep the FEAST OF WEEKS unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
Acts 2:1 And when THE DAY of PENTECOST was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Acts 20:16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem THE DAY of PENTECOST.
I Corinthians 16:8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until PENTECOST.
Penta- = 5
Pentacle = A 5 pointed star.
Pentagon = A 5 sided structure. (US Dept. of Defense building has 5 sides)
Pentateuch = The first 5 books of the Old Testament.
Feast of weeks
Pentecost = 50
Pentecost i.e., «fiftieth», found only in the New Testament (Acts 2:1; 20:16; I Corinthians 16:8). The festival so named is first spoken of in Exodus 23:16 as «the feast of harvest,» and again in Exodus 34:22 as «the day of the firstfruits» (Numbers 28:26). From the sixteenth of the month of Nisan (the second day of the Passover), seven complete weeks, i.e., forty-nine days, were to be reckoned, and this feast was held on the fiftieth day. The manner in which it was to be kept is described in Leviticus 23:15-19; Numbers 28:27-29. Besides the sacrifices prescribed for the occasion, every one was to bring to the Lord his «tribute of a free-will offering» (Deuteronomy 16:9-11). The purpose of this feast was to commemorate the completion of the grain harvest. Its distinguishing feature was the offering of «two leavened loaves» made from the new corn of the completed harvest, which, with two lambs, were waved before the Lord as a thank offering.
The fiftieth day after the resurrection of Christ.
The day of Pentecost is a Christian Church festival on the 7th Sunday after Resurrection (commonly called Easter) Sunday commemorating the decent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. Also called Whitsunday.
God works by SEVEN MONTHS
One month — Two months — Three months — Four months — Five months — Six months — REST!
Leviticus 23:23-25 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying,
In the SEVENTH MONTH,
in the FIRST DAY of THE MONTH, shall ye have A SABBATH,
a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Numbers 29:1 And in the SEVENTH MONTH, on the FIRST DAY of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.
Romans 11:26-28 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father’s sakes.
Isaiah 59:19-21 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
God works by SEVEN YEARS
One year — Two years — Three years — Four years — Five years — Six years — REST!
Every cell in your body is replaced with a new cell every 7 years.
Exodus 21:1-5 Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them. If thou buy an Hebrew servant, SIX YEARS he shall serve: and in the SEVENTH he shall go out free for nothing. If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself. And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
Exodus 23:10-13 And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof:
But the SEVENTH YEAR thou shalt let it REST and lie still;
that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
Leviticus 25:1-10 And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you,
then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.
Six years thou shalt sow thy field,
and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;
But in the SEVENTH YEAR shall be SABBATH OF REST unto the land,
a sabbath for the LORD:
thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land. And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee. And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat. And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
God works by SEVEN THOUSAND YEARS
One thousand years — Two thousand years — Three thousand years — Four thousand years
Five thousand years — Six thousand years — REST!
Psalms 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
II Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Psalms 95:7-11 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that
they should NOT enter INTO MY REST.
Isaiah 11:10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and HIS REST shall be glorious.
Hosea 6:1-3 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
AFTER TWO DAYS will he revive us:
in the THIRD DAY he will raise us up, and WE SHALL LIVE IN HIS SIGHT.
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
NOTE: The second day after the death of Christ would be 2,000 years or the beginning of the Millennium at which time WE SHALL LIVE IN HIS SIGHT.
Matthew 6:1-5 1 And AFTER SIX DAYS Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Luke 9:28-31 And it came to pass ABOUT AN EIGHT DAYS after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
NOTE: After six days (6,000 years) and about eight days is seven days (7,000 years), the beginning of the Millennium.
II Peter 1:16-21 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you
THE POWER AND COMING OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,
but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard,
when we were with him IN THE HOLY MOUNT.
We have also a more SURE WORD OF PROPHECY;
whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
II Peter 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him IN THE HOLY MOUNT. (the Mount of Transfiguration)
NOTE: The Transfiguration is a picture (or prophecy) of the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Let us labour therefore to enter into THAT REST, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
ANSWER: «THAT REST» in Hebrews 4:11 is making reference to the «Millennial Rest» when Christ will rule and reign for 1,000 years on this very earth.
Matthew 25:14-30 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
