Hebrews 1:1-4 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

NOTE: Notice that the purpose or the theme of the book of Hebrews is to show that we are to be an heir and receive an inheritance but the inheritance is conditional. In order to have an inheritance we must FIRST be a son. It is impossible for a Son to lose his Sonship but a Son can certainly lose his inheritance.

Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs;

heirs of God,

and joint-heirs with Christ;

If so be that WE SUFFER WITH HIM,

that we may be also glorified together.

John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

The Inheritances Of God’s Sons!

I. The inheritance of Adam was The World until he fell.

Luke 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

NOTE: Adam lost his inheritance.

Hebrews 2:6-8 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Psalms 8:1-9 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

II. The inheritance of Israel was to be the Land of Canaan.

Hosea 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

NOTE: Israel lost her inheritance but will regain it.

III. The inheritance of Jesus Christ is ALL THINGS.

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Hebrews 1:2a Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, …

NOTE: Jesus Christ will inherit ALL THINGS.

Philippians 2:5-11 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore

God also hath highly

exalted him,

and given him

a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

of things in heaven,

and things in earth,

and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

IV. The inheritance of Individual Christians will be to rule and reign with Jesus Christ as Kings and Priests.

John 1:10-13 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Revelation 1:5-6 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

NOTE: The individual Christian is NOT GUARANTEED his inheritance for it is based on his service and suffering for the cause of Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs; with Christ;
IF
so be that
WE SUFFER WITH HIM,

that we may be also glorified together.

Colossians 3:23-25 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that

of the Lord ye shall receive
the reward of the inheritance:

for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and

there is NO RESPECT OF PERSONS.

II Timothy 2:12
If we suffer,

we shall also reign with him:

if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Ephesians 5:1-8 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Philippians 2:15-16 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Five Warning Passages In The Book Of Hebrews!

I. Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

NOTE: Heir of salvation; getting something from being saved. That something is your Millennial Inheritance.

Therefore looking back to what I just said:

Hebrews 2:1-3 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

How shall we escape,
if we neglect so great salvation;

which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

NOTE: The things that we can let slip away are our rewards and millennial inheritance. Be sure you read «You Can Lose Rewards» above. Your salvation IS SURE but your rewards and millennial inheritance ARE NOT.

Notice that the passage DOES NOT say:

How shall we escape if we REJECT so great salvation:

It says:

How shall we escape if we NEGLECT so great salvation.

NOTE: If you are married, is there a difference in NEGLECTING your spouse and REJECTING your spouse? Of course there is. Neglecting is simple not paying attention to or not caring about something. It may be yours but you simply don’t care about it.

Hebrews 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

NOTE: The passages are talking about rewards and Our Millennial Inheritance. Notice that the author of Hebrews included himself in the warning; whatever can happen to the READER of the passage can also happen to the WRITER of the passage.

How shall WE escape if WE neglect so great salvation…

Hebrews 2:4-5 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

NOTE: The passage is making reference to «The World To Come.» The world to come or AGE to come is making reference to the «Millennial Reign Of Christ.»

We were saved by grace and are expected to serve so that we might rule and reign as kings and priests with Christ during his reign on this very earth.

NOTE: Man sinned and lost his dominion, he will regain it NOT YET but when Christ Jesus returns. That dominion is conditional and will be based on the Christian’s service and suffering for Christ Jesus in this age.

Hebrews 2:9-12 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in

BRINGING MANY SONS UNTO GLORY,

to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

NOTE: Where the scripture states, «Bringing many sons unto glory» will be where many sons will be made joint-heirs with Christ Jesus.

Jesus Christ at His second coming will be King (Jesus Christ) of Kings (many sons) and Lord (Jesus Christ) of Lords (many sons).

BRINGING MANY SONS TO GLORY IS ABSOLUTELY CONDITIONAL!

Romans 8:16-23 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;

IF SO BE THAT WE SUFFER WITH HIM,

that we may be also

GLORIFIED TOGETHER.

For I reckon that the

sufferings of this present time

are not worthy to be compared with

THE GLORY WHICH SHALL BE REVEALED IN US .

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for
the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence,

WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION

WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.

NOTE: Work out your own salvation, don’t neglect it.

II Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, WE PERSUADE MEN; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

NOTE: Jesus Christ «The Foundation» has been laid and we are told to «BUILD ON THAT FOUNDATION.»

II. Hebrews 3:7-19 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So

I sware in my wrath,
They shall not enter into my rest.)

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke:

howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

So we see that they could not enter in BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF.

NOTE: Not all who came out of Egypt entered into the land of Canaan (that rest). Many died in the wilderness. Not all Christians will enter into the «day of rest» or the «Millennial Reign Of Christ.»

Deuteronomy 12:9-10 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you. But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

Psalms 95:8-11 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Hebrews 4:1-11 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said,

As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest:

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And

God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and

they to whom it was first preached entered not in BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF:

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest,

lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

NOTE: Israel had been redeemed, out of Egypt, by the Blood of The Lamb. Israel went into the wilderness and was repeatedly disobedient, repeatedly unfaithful, they repeatedly had a heart of unbelief. They were told to go into Canaan but they would not. God made an oath, He swore in His wrath, that whether they repented or not they would NOT GET THEIR INHERITANCE, the land of Canaan. That generation of Israelites WERE NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER INTO THAT REST.

Be sure to read «The Millennium — A Day of REST» which immediately follows.

III. Hebrews 5:10-14 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness:

for he is a babe.

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

NOTE: Melchisedec was a Priest/King, we have an opportunity to be a Priest/King. These people were dull of hearing, they were lazy, they could only take MILK not STRONG MEAT. They were BABIES who couldn’t get off the PRINCIPLES of MILK and on to STRONG MEAT. That infuriates the Lord.

Therefore looking back to what I just said:

Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.

NOTE: Leaving the principles doctrine of Christ, getting off of the MILK and moving on to perfection (the completion of the task). Go beyond the basics of salvation by grace through faith, go beyond to basics of baptisms, go beyond the basics of laying on of hands and go beyond on the basics of eternal judgment.

NOTICE: There is more than one baptism, the doctrine of baptisms.

Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

NOTE: Notice again that the passage is making reference to «The World To Come.» The world to come or AGE to come is making reference to the «Millennial Reign Of Christ.» The world to come is certainly NOT the Church.

If they shall fall away, and neglect or not work out their salvation. Not paying attention to the things that should accompany salvation, the meatier things of God.

Matthew 19:28-30 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Hebrews 6:7-8 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

NOTE: And bringeth forth herbs, a reference to FRUITFULNESS.

Hebrews 6:9-12 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

NOTE: Not salvation but things that ACCOMPANY SALVATION. Our work and labor of love so that we might INHERIT THE PROMISES. God wants His people to Inherit the Promises and to gain a Full Reward.

IV. Hebrews 10:16-17 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I REMEMBER NO MORE.

Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

NOTE: We have ALL sinned willfully, notice that in verse 17 He has forgiven their sins. This warning is not losing one’s salvation it is LOSING REWARDS. Notice verse 35.

Hebrews 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

NOTE: Once again the reference is to our rewards and to our Millennial Inheritance.

I Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

V. Hebrews 12:11-17 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God;

lest any root of bitterness

springing up trouble you,

and thereby many be defiled; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person,

as Esau, who for one morsel of meat

sold his birthright.

For ye know how that afterward,

when he would have inherited the blessing,

he was rejected:

for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

NOTE: You are in danger of losing your inheritance just like Esau lost his birthright. We see here that Esau sold his birthright, he neglected it, he didn’t care about it. Esau sold his birthright to Jacob for EARTHLY THINGS, even though he WAS A SON and a FIRST BORN SON who was entitled to two thirds of the inheritance. Once Esau sold his birthright God made an oath that he couldn’t get it back ever though Esau sought it back WITH TEARS!

Will your unbelief and lack of faith cause you to LOSE YOUR MILLENNIAL INHERITANCE?

Are you a faithful steward? Have you been faithful to «The Mysteries of God?»

NOTE: The sin that is being warned about in the Book of Hebrews is:

Neglecting the purpose for which God saved you and me and that is «To rule and reign with Christ» as a King/Priest (which is totally conditional) during His Millennial Reign and then on into eternity. Esau lost his inheritance, the first generation of Israel lost theirs and we can lose ours as well. Most Christians are totally and absolutely useless in these last days. There are signs of His coming abounding and we MUST NOT CEASE in our efforts to serve Him and bring people to the knowledge of His saving Grace.

Jude 1:14-15 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Revelation 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

NOTE: Notice that the Lord comes with 10,000’s of His saints. The Scripture does NOT say that He returns with ALL His saints.

Galatians 6:1-10 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
